Most
experts agree that physical fitness can
be broken down into five basic areas:
cardiorespiratory or aerobic endurance,
muscular endurance, muscular strength,
flexibility, and body composition.
Cardiorespiratory
or Aerobic Endurance: This is
the ability to complete moderately difficult
activity over a period of time. The cardiovascular
system includes the heart and blood vessels.
Muscular
Endurance: This is the ability
to repeat a movement many times or to
hold
a
position for a certain period of time
before getting tired.
Muscular
Strength: This is the ability
to lift the heaviest weight you can one
time. It is possible to have muscular
strength in one area of the body but not
another. Strong muscles help people stand,
walk, work, and play.
Flexibility: This is how limber or flexible you are.
Body
Composition: This is the amount
of fat in your body compared to your bones
and muscles.
